WAUKESHA, Wis. (April 11, 2018) – The North Central College men's lacrosse team scored its first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) win on Wednesday night, defeating Carroll University (2-8, 0-3 CCIW), 24-2.
North Central scored early and often in the first period, taking a 5-0 lead ten minutes into the game thanks to goals from
Tanner James,
Chris Ivie, and
Tommy Huizinga. The Pioneers scored in the final minute of the first period, but the Cardinals responded in the first two minutes of the second period to take away any potential momentum from Carroll.
The Pioneers had a man-up opportunity early in the second period that Airik Ranjo capitalized on to trail by four. But North Central had other plans for the remainder of the game as
Nick Pardo got hot halfway through the second period to score a hat-trick in two minutes.
Noah Parrill scored on the Cardinals' man-up possession before Pardo scored again off of an assist from Huizinga.
North Central hammered home the win with a relentless 15-point run in the second period to shut down any possibility of a comeback by Carroll.
North Central's 24 goals established a new single-game team record for the season while Pardo established a new single-game high six goals, followed by James with five and
Danny Boyle led the team with three assists. The Cardinals also collected single-game bests with 65 ground balls and 19 caused turnovers and
Jacob Ray's 23 wins at the faceoff were also a new single-game high.
Steven Faux paced the defense with 11 ground balls of his own and
Dylan Cost tallied four saves in the win.
