DULUTH, Minn. (May 18, 2018) –
Day two of the 2018 NCAA Division III Midwest Regional was one to forget for the North Central College baseball team, as seventh-ranked University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh jumped out to a double-digit lead and never looked back as the Cardinals found themselves on the wrong end of a 11-1 final at Wade Stadium.

The Titans (33-8) started early with three extra-base hits in the bottom of the first to plate a pair of runs while adding another in the bottom of the third to take a 3-0 advantage.

The wheels fell off for the Cardinals in the bottom of the fourth, as UW-Oshkosh sent 11 batters to the plate en route to a seven-run frame, opening up a 10-0 lead as the Titan offense exploded for 15 hits over the first four innings.

UW-Oshkosh starter Colan Treml stymied the Cardinal offense, posting a shutout through six before a RBI-single off the bat of Jeremy Quade scored Colin Weilbacher who led off the top of the seventh with a single to left, putting the Cardinals on the board while breaking up the shutout attempt.

That proved to be all the scoring the Cardinal offense would muster however, as Treml finished what he started to improve to a perfect 10-0 on the season over his 12 starts.

"We knew we were going to have our work cut out for us with Treml on the mound," said Mathey, "he's a competitor and trying to chase seven or eight runs on that guy is a difficult task."

The top six batters of the Titan lineup recorded multiple hits, led by 3-for-5 performances from Taylor Grimm and Andy Brahier.

Quade finished 2-for-5 with a double and the lone Cardinal RBI, while Weilbacher added a 2-for-4 performance with a run scored.

"A lot of teams are in the same situation," said Mathey, "after game one tomorrow only one team will be undefeated.  We've been in this situation before as a group, it's about putting together a four-game win streak one game at a time."

North Central (29-13) will have a re-match with the University of Dubuque tomorrow in an elimination game slated for 3 p.m. at Wade Stadium.  Additional information and links to live in-game coverage are available at the tournament website HERE.
