2017-18 AVCA Team Academic Award

July 16, 2018 –
The North Central College women's volleyball team was honored for its success in the classroom on Monday, earning the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award.

The team academic award has been presented since the 1992-93 academic year and honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.

North Central earned the award for just the second time in program history, joining the 2012-13 team.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was represented by seven of the nine institutions, as Carroll University, Carthage College, Elmhurst College, Illinois Wesleyan University, North Park University and Wheaton College join the list of 173 NCAA Division III institutions honored last season.

Additionally, North Central was one of just 19 Division III teams to reach their Dig Pink fundraising goal.  Dig Pink is a nationwide movement to provide meaningful and impactful experiences for athletes while inspiring and empowering them to come together in support of the stage IV breast cancer community.

The Cardinals begin the 2018 season on Friday, August 31, traveling to the Colorado College Classic in Colorado Springs, Colo.  The full schedule is available HERE.
