Sept. 18, 2018 – After earning the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Athlete of the Week accolades a day prior, North Central College men's cross country runner Dhruvil Patel earned his second honor of the week as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) has selected him as the Athlete of the Week for the second time this season. The conference announced the honorees for the week of Sept. 17 on Tuesday. 
 
Patel's two first-place finishes have caught the attention of competitors and coaches alike as he won the Illinois State University Invitational on Sept. 14 with a personal best time of 24:57.0. 
 
He also won the Elmhurst College Earlybird Invitational on Aug. 31, completing the 6,000-meter course with a time of 18:46.4 and leading the Cardinals to a season-opening victory. Patel was named the CCIW Athlete of the Week on Sept. 4 for that performance as well
 
North Central travels to Bourbonnais, Ill. for the Midwest Intercollegiate Invitational on Friday, Sept. 28. Race time is set for 4:15 p.m.
