Barajas Repeats as CCIW Athlete of the Week

Sept. 25, 2018 – For the second week in a row, the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) has selected North Central College women's cross country student-athlete Dianne Barajas as the CCIW Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 24. The conference announced its selections on Tuesday.

Barajas turned in a dominating performance at the Augustana College Brissman-Lundeen Invitational on Friday, Sept. 21, leading the field of 324 runners across the finish line with a season-best time of 22:02, 11 seconds ahead of the nearest competitor. The Cardinals won the meet out of 27 teams with 67 points.

This is the third CCIW Athlete of the Week honor for North Central this season. Madelyn Scopp earned the first award for the week of Sept. 4, followed by Barajas on Sept. 14.

The Cardinals head up to Colfax, Wis. on Friday, Sept. 28 for the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational. Race time is set for 4:15 p.m.
