Sept. 4, 2018 – North Central College women's cross country student-athlete Madelyn Scopp has been awarded the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Athlete of the Week award, an award that has not gone to a Cardinal since 2016. The CCIW announced the first award of the season on Tuesday.
 
Scopp, a returning All-CCIW honoree and NCAA Division III Midwest Region veteran from 2017, won the Elmhurst College Earlybird Invitational on Friday, Aug. 31, completing the 4,000-kilometer course in a time of 15:21.8. She was one of five Cardinals to place in the top-ten and helped lead North Central to a team victory. 
 
North Central will toe the line and look to keep the team's success alive at the Aurora University Spartan Classic on Friday, Sept. 7. Race time is set for 5 p.m.
