Don Deetjen Memorial Scoreboard Dedication Video

Oct. 1, 2019 - Fans in attendance at North Central College's Homecoming football game on Saturday, Sept. 28 were treated to the debut of the College's newest facility addition, the Don Deetjen Memorial Scoreboard. Equipped with state-of-the-art video and audio quality, the scoreboard promises to enhance the game-day atmosphere for teams and supporters alike. 

The scoreboard is dedicated to honor the memory of Don Deetjen '66, who passed away in 2016. Deetjen was a pivotal figure in the development of Cardinal Stadium in 1977, as well as Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium and Championship Plaza in 1997, and was honored as a special inductee to the North Central Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004. The Deetjen family supplied the lead gift for the fully-funded project. 

The scoreboard will serve the football, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's lacrosse, and men's and women's track and field teams. Its 18-foot by 35-foot display area is fully video-enabled, with virtual scoreboard overlays that are specific to each sport. The scoreboard is also equipped with a top-of-the-line Stadium Pro sound system and is capable of displaying live and recorded video content as well as slow-motion instant replays. 

The design, manufacturing and installation for the project was managed by Nevco, Inc., of Greenville, Illinois, in collaboration with representatives from the College's athletics, business operations and sports information departments. The sports information department will bear primary responsibility for the operation of the scoreboard during North Central athletic events.
