CCIW Release

Oct. 15, 2019 – For the third time this season, North Central College women's cross country runner Dianne Barajas has been recognized by the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) as its Athlete of the Week, following a strong showing at Friday's Benedictine University Eagle Invitational. The CCIW announced its latest selections on Tuesday.

Unfazed by cold and muddy conditions on Friday, Barajas led her teammates through the 6,000-meter course at St. James Farm in a time of 22 minutes and 54.2 seconds, finishing fourth among 94 competitors. North Central totaled 60 points in the meet to finish second behind only second-ranked University of Chicago.

Barajas has received an Athlete of the Week award for each of her three races this season, pushing her career total to five, which ties her for the most in program history.

The Cardinals look to divide and conquer on Oct. 19, sending squads to the Skyhawk Invitational and the Kollege Town Sports Invitational.
