Oct. 22, 2019 – A fifth-place individual finish at the Kollege Town Sports Invitational has earned North Central College men's cross country runner
Alec Beutel the season's final College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Athlete of the Week Award, marking the team's third-consecutive selection.
Beutel was one of three Cardinals to finish in the top-10 on Saturday, completing the 8,000-meter course in a time of 25 minutes and 4 seconds ahead of nearly 450 competitors. The Cardinals scored an impressive 46 points to finish atop a stacked 34-team field that featured ten nationally ranked programs, the third year in a row North Central has won the meet.
North Central recieved six of the season's eight CCIW Athlete of the Week Awards, missing out on just one week the team competed.
Matt Osmulski recieved a trio of awards, while
Kyle Bell and
Cameron Benes each added a selection.
The No. 1-ranked Cardinals head to Rock Island on Nov. 2 for the 2019 CCIW Championship, where they will seek their 46th-straight title.
