CCIW Press Release
Oct. 22, 2019 - The North Central College men's soccer team earned their fourth College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Player of the Week award on Tuesday as junior defender
Spencer Wiese was named Defensive Player of the Week.
The Cardinals (9-4-1, 4-1 CCIW) only played one game this past week, as they took down Carthage College on Wednesday by a score of 2-1. Wiese netted both goals, one in the 11th minute with an assist from
Elijah Larson and the game-winning goal in the 73rd minute of play. As a defender, Wiese played a key role in holding the Red Men to their only goal of the game.
North Central is the only team in the CCIW with an opponent goal average of less than one (0.79). They also lead the conference in shutouts as they have held their opponent scoreless in five of their 14 games.
They face Elmhurst College (9-6-1, 3-2 CCIW) at home on Wednesday at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium with a game time set for 7:30 pm.
