CCIW Release

Oct. 22, 2019 – North Central College women's cross country runner Dianne Barajas has earned her fourth College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Athlete of the Week Award of the season, following a top-15 finish at the Kollege Town Sports Invitational over the weekend. The CCIW announced its final selections for the season on Tuesday.

In a race that featured 419 runners from 34 schools, including seven nationally ranked programs, Barajas clocked a time of 22 minutes and 29.9 seconds in the 6,000-meter course at Lake Breeze Golf Course for a fourteenth-place finish. The senior's performance bodes well for the end of the season, as North Central will return to Lake Breeze Golf Course on Nov. 16 for the Midwest Region Championship.

Barajas earned a CCIW weekly award for each of her four races this season, and will finish her cross country career with seven weekly awards, more than anyone else in program history.

The Cardinals travel to Rock Island, Ill. on Nov. 2 for the 2019 CCIW Championship, looking to bring home their first conference title in four years.
