NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Nov. 2, 2019) - In their final contest of the regular season, the North Central College men's soccer team posted a 0-0 draw in double overtime to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneers on senior night.

After an uneventful first 12 minutes of gameplay, senior goalkeeper Marco Soto made his first save of the game to keep the Pioneers off of the scoreboard. In total, North Central took five first-half shots, three of which were on goal, as the Cardinals ended the half in a scoreless tie.

In hopes to score the first goal of the game, Spencer Wiese took a shot off of an Austin Lombardi corner kick, but it sailed high. In the 65th minute of action, Pablo Bustamante attempted to break the tie but his shot was save by Pioneer goalkeeper, Nate Miller. Each goalkeeper posted two saves in the second-half to force the contest into overtime.

The Cardinals came out firing to start the first overtime period as they rook four shots within the span of one minute, but Miller stopped them all to push the game into the second overtime. North Central took seven shots in the ten minute period, but were unable to find the back of the net.

In the final period of the game, both teams made their final efforts to win the game, but were unable to do so as the Cardinals recorded their second tie of the season.

Soto moves into second place all-time for most shutouts in a single season, as he recorded his seventh shutout of the season to improve to 11-5-2. Miller moves to 5-7-3 on the year.

North Central will participate in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Tournament on Wednesday with a time and place TBD.
