PLYMOUTH, Wis. (Dec. 14, 2019) - Competing against four ranked opponents in the Lakeland University Muskie Duals, the North Central College women's wrestling team earned one dual win on the day.

The Cardinals first dual came against a familiar opponent, MacMurray College. After forfeiting the 101-weight class, the Cardinals found themselves down 10-0 following a pin by the Highlanders. Abby Eisenbeis (116) scored the first Cardinals victory by earning a 15-10 decision over her MacMurray Opponent. Asia Nguyen-Smith posted a pin to being the Cardinals to within eight as North Central also had to forfeit the 123-pound match. Amanda Martinez kept the momentum going as she won her 136-pound match by a 5-2 decision. In the 155-pound division, Malea Palahnuik pinned her MacMurray opponent, but it wasn't enough as North Central fell 27-21 to the Highlanders. 

Their second dual of the day came against No.10-ranked Adrian College. The Cardinals were only able to win two matches against the Bulldogs. Eisenbeis won by forfeit at the 116-pound match while Nguyen-Smith (130) won via tech fall to earn her tenth victory of the season as the Cardinals lost, 36-10. 

North Central faced the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Pointers in their third dual of the day as four of the weight-classes posted double forfeits to save their wrestlers for later in the day. Martinez won the 130-pound match via tech fall to give the Cardinals their first win of the dual. Palahnuik won by forfeit in the 155-pound match as North Central fell 19-9 to the Pointers. 

In their final dual of the day, the Cardinals faced the host Lakeland University. Angelina Graff earned a 109-pound win via forfeit to give North Central an early lead. Martinez, Nguyen-Smith, and Palahnuik all won their respective matches to increase North Central's lead. In the final match of the day, Angelina Kirkpatrick won by tech fall to secure the 22-5 win over the Muskies.

North Central next competes on Jan. 10th at the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) National Duals. The two-day event is set to take place in Louisville, Ky. inside of Freedom Hall with a time to be determined.
