This Week for the Cardinals: North Central advanced to the quarterfinals for the third time in its history and the first time since 2013 on Saturday, taking down Mount Union, 59-52, on the Purple Raiders’ home field.

A national finalist last season, Mount Union ended the regular season ranked No. 1 by D3football.com and No. 2 by the AFCA. The Raiders made their earliest postseason exit since 1994.

The Cardinals gained a single-game school record 699 total yards in recording the victory and hit the 50-point mark for the fifth consecutive week. Quarterback Broc Rutter completed 22 of 36 passes for a school-record 522 yards, throwing for five touchdowns and running for another.

North Central Team Records: In addition to producing new single-game records for total yards and passing yards for the Cardinals, Saturday's game also matched the highest combined single-game point total in a North Central game in over 50 years.

The 111 combined points matched the total from a 63-48 victory over Carthage in 2009. The most total points ever scored in a game involving a North Central is 136 in a 104-32 loss to North Park in 1968.

The Cardinals have already established new single-season school records for points scored (660), total offensive yards (6,984), total touchdowns (92), passing yards (4,103) and passing touchdowns (50), and are one rushing touchdown shy of matching the record of 40 set by the 2011 team.

North Central Career Rankings:  Rutter is the Cardinals' all-time leader in pass completions (937), passing attempts (1,382), passing yards (13,024) touchdown passes (131).
Kamienski is the program's all-time leader in career receptions (223), receiving yards (3,170) and receiving touchdowns (36) while ranking fifth in all-purpose yards (3,497) and points scored (216), while Ayhan ranks 10th in quarterback sacks (16.5) and 16th in tackles for loss (24.5).
