USTFCCCA Team Academic Awards
USTFCCCA All-Academic Individuals

Feb. 14, 2019
- For the 14th consecutive season, the North Central College women's cross country team has been honored for its continued success in the classroom and in the field of competition, earning the Team All-Academic Award from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for the 2018 season.

To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team grade point average of 3.10 or better and have compiled a score (finished at least five runners) at their respective NCAA regional championship.

The Cardinals compiled a team grade point average of 3.48 through the fall term, their highest since 2011. North Central is one of seven College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) institutions to be so honored, joining Carrroll University, Carthage College, Elmhurst College, Illinois Wesleyan University, Millikin University and Wheaton College, as a total of 215 NCAA Division III programs earned the honor during the fall.

North Central also has three team members, Alexis Henz, Emma Jourdan and Madelynn Scopp, who have qualified to be honored as All-Academic Individuals. A total of 382 NCAA Division III student-athletes met the criteria of a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 and a finish in the top 25 percent of competitors at the regional championships. Henz and Scopp are so recognized for the second straight year, while Jourdan is a first-time honoree.

Scopp, a psychology major, was the Cardinals' top finisher at the CCIW Championship, placing fourth to earn First Team All-CCIW accolades, then went on to lead the team with a 19th-place showing at the Midwest Region Championship. Scopp qualified as an individual for the National Championship, placing 107th out of 229 competitors.

Jourdan, an international business major, placed 12th at the CCIW Championship to earn Second Team All-Conference honors before a 49th-place finish in the region. Henz, an elementary education major, placed 57th and 61st, respectively, at the CCIW and Midwest Region meets.

The North Central women's cross country program has received 33 Individual All-Academic awards since their introduction in 2004.
