Feb. 7, 2019 – North Central College men's volleyball student-athlete Samuel Kharasch has been selected as the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 4. The MCVL announced its honorees on Thursday.

Kharasch, a sophomore libero from Libertyville, Ill., tallied 24 digs between the Cardinals' two matches over the weekend against top-15 teams, playing in all six sets. His 2.74 digs per set rank him third among all players in the league.

This is Kharasch's first Player of the Week honor and the first for the season for North Central. Augustana College's Matt Szara was named the Offensive Player of the Week.

North Central (7-5) hosts its final home triangular on Friday, first playing No. 15 University of California, Santa Cruz at 3:30 p.m. before playing Augustana College at 8:30 p.m. A link to live in-match coverage can be found HERE.
