ORLANDO, Fla. (March 15, 2019) – The North Central College women's tennis team swept all six singles matches against Ursinus College (4-4) on Friday afternoon to win their first dual of the Florida trip at Sanlando Park.
In doubles, Hannah Houghland and
Alaina Kanthaphixay teamed up at No. 1 and won their match 8-2 before
Diana Barcelata and
Katie McGraw won their match at No. 2, 8-3. The Bears were able to secure a win at No. 3 doubles and the Cardinals moved into singles play with a narrow 2-1 lead.
Barcelata, Houghland, Kanthaphixay, McGraw,
Morgan House and
Tiffany Smolik each had strong performances in singles winning all six matches, highlighted by Kanthaphixay and House winning their matches 6-4, 6-0 and 6-3, 6-1, respectively.
The Cardinals' (9-4) next match is against St. Lawrence University on Sunday, Mar. 17 at 7:30 p.m. (ET).
