ORLANDO, Fla. (Mar. 17, 2019) – The North Central College men's tennis team won its second match in as many days on Sunday evening, defeating St. Lawrence University (2-2) by a 5-4 decision.
The Cardinals (10-2) had a 2-1 advantage following doubles play after the duo of
Tyler Bussell and
Lucas Pindak at No. 3 won against Spencer Whitmire and Arman Tavana, 8-2 and
Tyler Haizel and
Andy Hinch at No. 2 defeated Nico Haet and Joshua Marvald, 8-3 shortly thereafter.
The Saints took the win at No. 1 doubles and added two more wins at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, but a win from Haizel at No. 4 kept North Central in the hunt. St. Lawrence won the No. 2 match and it appeared it would come down to the No. 5 and 6 matches to determine a winner. Pindak finished first at No. 6, defeating Tavana 7-6, 7-6 and Hinch sealed the win for the Cardinals, rebounding from a 2-6 loss in the first set to Jordan Mamelak before taking the next two, 6-2, 6-4.
North Central returns to the court tomorrow for a double header, first taking on Grinnell College at 10 a.m. (ET) and Western New England University at 6 p.m. (ET).
