INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Mar. 30, 2019) – The North Central College men's lacrosse team returned to its winning ways on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Hanover College Panthers (6-4) by a score of 12-5 after only trailing for three minutes the entire game.

The Panthers struck first when Ian Kimmins connected with Noah King just over five minutes into play, but the Cardinals came back with four straight goals from Matt Sheinfeld, Tommy Huizinga, Jared Weaver, and Tanner James to establish the lead. Noah Parrill added a goal less than a minute into the second period, followed by back-to-back tallies from Steven Faux to give North Central a 7-3 lead at the half.

It took Hanover the first five minutes in the second half to generate offense and cut the Cardinals' lead to 7-5 after goals from Bret Schell and Dirk Meinhart. Weaver made sure North Central had the final say going into the final 15-minutes of play, scoring off of an assist from Huizinga with six seconds to go in the third.

The Cardinals dominated the fourth period, scoring four goals and kept the Panthers off the scoreboard entirely. North Central's defensive unit only allowed Hanover two shots during that time, both of which goalkeeper Zayne Hartz saved.

Weaver led the team with four goals and three assists while Faux, Huizinga, and Sheinfeld had two each. Weaver also led the team with seven ground balls and Steven Dale had five in addition to his team-high seven caused turnovers. In goal, Dylan Cost started the game and made 13 saves before Hartz entered in the fourth period.

The Cardinals (7-1) open College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) action at home on Wednesday, Apr. 3, hosting defending conference champion Illinois Wesleyan University at 7 p.m. Links to live in-game coverage can be found HERE.
