ALMA, Mich. (Mar. 9, 2019) – Taking the lead early and never looking back, the North Central College men's lacrosse team improved to 3-0 and scored its first win on the road this season, defeating Alma College (2-4) on the Scots' home turf at Bahlke Field.

Alma's Tom Needham connected with Jared Nycz for the first goal of the game less than five minutes into play, but the Cardinals pulled ahead with a 4-1 lead after Noah Parrill, Jared Weaver, Tanner James and Matt Sheinfeld found the back of the net. The Scots got in one more goal with under thirty to go in the first period but going into halftime, it was North Central with the 9-4 advantage, thanks to back-to-back goals from James to close out the half.

Parrill started North Central's second half scoring in the first thirty seconds out of the locker room and Tommy Huizinga followed suit to extend the lead, 11-4. Alma tried to hold on, scoring two goals midway through the fourth period, albeit too little, too late.

As a team, the Cardinals doubled up the Scots at the faceoff, collecting 18 and won many of the ground ball battles, coming away with a team total of 41. North Central also was successful clearing the ball, completing 13 of 17 attempts while Alma was 17-26.

James tallied five goals in the win while Sheinfeld added a team-high three assists. Jacob Ray scooped up 13 ground balls and both Steven Faux and Sean Tomonari came away with three caused turnovers. In goal, Dylan Cost played the full 60-minutes and made eight saves.

North Central (3-0) heads to Angola, Ind. to play Trine University on Tuesday, Mar. 12 at 6 p.m. (ET).
