MCVL All-Conference Team
Apr. 13, 2019 – A trio of North Central College men's volleyball senior student-athletes have earned All-Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) recognition for their performances this season.
Anthony Kluzak and
Jacob Zemba earned Second Team accolades for the first time in their careers while
Bozhidar Kolev was a selection for the second-straight season. The MCVL made the announcement on Saturday afternoon.
Kluzak, a senior from Cherry Valley, Ill., is the program leader in career blocks, tallying 207 in four years. This season, he had 131 kills, ten service aces, and a team-high 68 blocks which also set a new single-season record. Zemba, a senior from Derry, Pa., is the program leader in career kills with 648 and ranks second in career digs with 422. He had 239 kills this season and averaged a team-best 2.81 kills per set. He also had 11 service aces, 138 digs, and 36 blocks in the 85 sets played.
Earning his second distinction in as many seasons, Kolev, a senior from Gabrovo, Bulguria, led North Central with 243 kills, a new single-season record, and ranked second with 2.73 kills per set. He tallied 32 service aces on the season, a team high in the category and new single-season record, and came up with 40 blocks. His 92 career service aces puts him atop the leaderboard for the Cardinals' program history and he ranks second in career kills with 633.
Both the First and Second teams had eight selections and the Carthage College Red Men led the conference honors with four student-athletes on the First Team. North Central, Loras College and Fontbonne University all had three selections while Augustana College, Adrian College, and Mount St. Joseph University had one a piece.
