ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Apr. 26, 2019) – The North Central College women's tennis team saw its historic season come to an end on Friday at the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Automatic Qualifier Tournament, falling to top-seeded host Augustana College, 5-0.
 
After qualifying for the AQ Tournament with a fourth-place finish in the fall, North Central made its seventh appearance in the tournament since the installment in 2007, but are still seeking the program's first postseason victory.
 
Starting the day with doubles play, the Vikings (18-5) swept all three positions to take a commanding 3-0 lead.  Augustana then scored straight set wins at each of the No. 1 and No. 3 singles positions, ending the match 5-0 as the two teams played to decision.
 
North Central finishes the season with an overall record of 16-7, the most wins in a single season in program history. Individually, Hannah Hougland tied the program's single-season wins record, going 23-6 in singles play, while teaming up with Alaina Kanthaphixay to shatter the program's single-season doubles win record, as the pair finished 22-7 playing at the No. 1 position.
