Men's Tennis Suffers First CCIW Loss

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Apr. 6, 2019) –
Suffering their first loss of the young College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) season, the North Central College men's tennis team was undone at Augustana College on Saturday by a 9-0 final at the Lower Campus Courts.

The Vikings (15-4, 1-0 CCIW) swept all three doubles positions to take a 3-0 lead into singles competition, claiming 8-2 wins at each of No. 1 and No. 2, while scoring a 8-4 victory at No. 3.

In singles play, Augustana won the first four positions in straight sets, while Andy Hinch put up a fight at the No. 5 position, taking the first set 6-2 over Leonardo Panosso but could not hang on from there, falling 6-0, 10-3 over the final two.

North Central (13-4, 1-1 CCIW) continues CCIW play on Friday, Apr. 12, traveling to Carthage College with matches slated to begin at 3 p.m. at Smeds Tennis Center.
