Box Score
Apr. 9, 2019 – Led by a record-breaking performance by junior midfielder
Jared Weaver, the North Central College men's lacrosse team scored its first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) victory on Tuesday night, defeating the Carroll University Pioneers (0-11, 0-2 CCIW), 18-3.
North Central established its dominance on offense early, opening the game with a nine-goal run thanks to Weaver,
Tommy Huizinga,
Casimer Plonczynski and
Tanner James. The Pioneers slowed that momentum with a goal from Airik Ranjo to get on the board and was able to limit Huizinga and James to one goal apiece before going into halftime, though the Cardinals held the 9-1 advantage.
Coming out of the locker room, it was all about the Cardinals' offense again, as Weaver scored his sixth goal of the night followed by Parrill with his first tally. The Cardinals tacked on two more goals before Carroll's Danny McGee snuck one past
Zayne Hartz with one second to go in the third period.
Although the Pioneers made the first strike in the fourth period, back-to-back goals from Weaver and a goal from Plonczynski in the final two minutes made sure there was no chance for a comeback for the Pioneers as North Central cruised to an 18-3 victory.
Weaver's eight goals established a new single-game record and moves him up to 35 goals this season, while Parrill had a team-high four assists.
John Fitzgerald had six ground balls and
Sean Tomonari had another great defensive performance with five caused turnovers while Plonczynski played a critical role at the face-off X, coming up with 10-18 faceoffs.
In goal, Hartz played all 60 minutes and tied his season-best eight saves.
