CCIW Release

Sept. 10, 2019 – After leading the Cardinals through the Wisconsin-Parkside Vic Godfrey Invite on Friday, North Central College women's cross country senior runner Dianne Barajas has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Athlete of the Week. The CCIW announced its latest round of selections on Tuesday.

Barajas thrived in her first race of the year, completing the 5-kilometer course in 19 minutes and 2.4 seconds for a 13th-place finish in a field featuring Division I, II and III runners. As a team, North Central totaled 125 points to place fifth. 

This marks three CCIW Athlete of the Week Awards for the Hoffman Estates-native, who earned First Team All-Conference honors last season. 

North Central heads to Aurora on Sept. 13 for the Spartan Classic, with race time set for 3 p.m.
