Sept. 17, 2019 – For the second time this season, the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) has honored North Central College men's cross country runner
Matt Osmulski as the Athlete of the Week. The CCIW announced their selections on Tuesday.
Osmulski's latest award comes in recognition of his performance at the Illinois State University Invitational on Friday, where he completed the 8-kilometer course in 24 minutes and 45.6 seconds on the way to a third-place overall finish and a 79 second improvement from last year's race. Behind his efforts, North Central placed third in the team standings as the only non-Division I institution in the meet.Â
The senior has impressed in the early stages of the season, winning the winning the Elmhurst College Earlybird Invitational on Aug. 30 in his only other race of the year, after completing the 6k course in a time of 15:54.1.
The Cardinals compete at the Wheaton College Gil Dodds Invitational on Sept. 21, with race time at St. James Farm set for 10 a.m.
