Sept. 24, 2019 - The North Central College men's soccer team secured their first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Player of the Week for the 2019 season. Senior goalkeeper
Marco Soto was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week for his performances against Dominican University and Lake Forest College.
On the week, Soto posted back-to-back shutouts as the Cardinals tied Dominican 0-0, and defeated Lake Forest 1-0. In total, he recorded 13 saves and faced 30 shots over the two games.
Soto sits atop the CCIW in goals against average (.803) and save percentage (.854). He is currently is second place in the conference for saves (35) and shutouts with three on the season. Soto is one of 15 Cardinals in program history to receive these honors.
Alexis Flores and Soto are the only two active players to have won the award.
The Cardinals begin CCIW action on Saturday as they visit Decatur, Ill. to take on Millikin. The game is set to start at 2:30 p.m. at Frank M. Lindsay Field.
