CCIW Press Release

Sept. 30, 2019 -
The North Central College football program has claimed the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight time, as senior quarterback Broc Rutter was named this week's honoree on Monday.

The distinction, Rutter's first of the season and the sixth of his career, comes after the Cardinals' 77-0 Homecoming victory over North Park University, during which Rutter established a new North Central single-game record for passing accuracy by completing 16 of 17 passes (94.1 percent). He threw for 334 yards and four touchdowns, guiding the Cardinals to the end zone on every one of their eight first-half possessions before exiting the contest.

A three-time First Team All-CCIW selection and the 2016 and 2018 CCIW Art Keller Offensive Player of the Year, Rutter has already set new North Central career records for completions (784), passing yards (10,775) and touchdown passes (101) this season. Just three games into the 2019 campaign, Rutter has thrown for 1,101 yards and 12 touchdowns and ranks first among all NCAA Division III quarterbacks in completion percentage (.786) while ranking second in yards per pass attempt (11.23) and third in yards per game (367.0) and passing efficiency (211.3).

The No. 5-ranked Cardinals (3-0, 2-0 CCIW) make the short trek to Wheaton College (3-0, 2-0) on Saturday for the annual Battle for the Little Brass Bell. Kickoff at McCully Stadium is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Click HERE for the full 2019 schedule.
