DECATUR, Ill. (Jan. 8, 2020) – The offense went cold in the second half for the North Central College women's basketball team at Millikin University on Wednesday, as the Cardinals fell to 1-4 in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) play with a 74-53 loss inside the Griswold Center.

North Central (5-9, 1-4 CCIW) took its only lead of the contest early in the first quarter as back-to-back layups from Haydn Braun and Allison Pearson gave the Cardinals a 7-4 advantage.

The Big Blue (9-4, 2-2 CCIW) proceeded to go on a 11-2 run to quickly take a 15-9 lead and the Cardinals were unable to overtake the lead the remainder of the contest.

Page Desenberg held the Cardinals close in the first quarter, scoring eight of the first 12 points of the game and finished with 13 in the first half, knocking down a pair of free throws to draw North Central to within five, 39-34 heading into halftime.

The offense was nearly silent from that point forward, shooting just 16 percent from the field in the second half and were outscored 35-19.

Desenberg was the lone Cardinal in double figures, finishing with 15 points, while Braun added eight points.  Natali Dimitrova led the team with seven rebounds, while Maya Walls grabbed six to go along with six points.

Aubrey Staton led all players with a 17-point, 11-rebound double-double, while Jordan Hildebrand also finished with a double-double, scoring 11 points while grabbing 11 boards.  Bailey Coffman added 13 points off the bench while Abby Ratsch also finished in double figures for Big Blue with 10 points.

North Central returns home to Gregory Arena for the first of a quick two-game homestand, hosting Carthage College on Saturday, Jan. 11 with tip-off at 5 p.m.  Links to live in-game coverage are available HERE.
