NAPERVILLE, ILL. (Feb. 1, 2020) - Looking to bounce back from a close loss less than 24 hours ago, the North Central College men's volleyball team did so in style, closing out the Illinois Institute of Technology Scarlet Hawks in three sets, with Justin Curtis leading the way for the Cardinals.

The Cardinals came out firing, jumping out to a 10-4 lead and did not look back, finishing the first set by a 25-14 final tally. Jason Eslinger did what he has all season thus far, recording four kills to tie for the team lead with Jeremy Cardenas in the first set.

Illinois Tech (0-3) looked overmatched, with the Cardinals putting down the hammer with a 25-13 second-set victory. Jared Moser was the top attacker for the Cardinals in the frame, recording five kills with Curtis adding three, putting the Cardinals in prime position to send the Scarlet Hawks home after three sets.

The third set was no different, as a 6-1 run in the middle of the set put the Cardinals up 12-5 and essentially put the game out of reach with the Cardinals, finishing the contest with a 25-16 third-set win.

Curtis led the team with 10 kills over the three sets while also recording five blocks, with Moser recording eight kills. Michael Trunzo assisted on 33 kills for the Cardinals, while they hit 0.625 as a team compared to 0.111 for IIT.

The Cardinals (2-2) are at home on Wednesday, Feb. 5, taking on a tough no.11 Benedictine University team at 7 pm inside Merner Fieldhouse. Click HERE for live stats and HERE for live video of the match.
