KENOSHA, WIS. (Feb. 26, 2020) - Putting their seven-game win streak on the line on Wednesday evening against 11th-ranked Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis., the North Central College men's volleyball team fell to the Red Men in straight sets to snap their streak.
The Cardinals were not able to get things going throughout the match, hitting 0.089 for the contest while Carthage (9-3, 3-0 CCIW) hit 0.364. The Red Men jumped out to a quick lead in the first set, going up 5-1 and not letting the Cardinals back into the set, finishing the first by a 25-15 tally. Carthage hit 0.417 for the set, while the Cardinals were held to 0.030.
Down 1-0, North Central looked to make a comeback in the second set, challenging Carthage the whole way but ultimately falling 25-19 due to a late run by the no. 11 Red Men.
Jared Moser led the way for the Cardinals in the set, recording four kills on four attempts while
Jason Eslinger had four kills on 10 attempts.
The Cardinals also kept Carthage within reach in the third set, but were not able to get over the hump and take the set, falling 25-17 to drop the set and the match.
Overall, Moser led the team in kills and was the only Cardinal in double digits with 10. Eslinger had seven kills while
Michael Trunzo had 15 assists and seven digs to lead the squad in both.
