KENOSHA, Wis. (Feb. 5, 2020) –
Held to single digits in each of the second and third quarters, the North Central College women's basketball team dropped a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) meeting with Carthage College, 70-45 on Wednesday inside Tarble Arena.

A layup and three-pointer from Natali Dimitrova as well as a pair of Maya Walls free throws gave North Central (9-11, 5-6 CCIW) a 7-0 lead to begin the game and force an early Carthage timeout.

The Cardinal lead would never grow past seven points however, as the Lady Reds (9-11, 4-7 CCIW) closed the quarter on a 13-6 run and overtook the lead just two possessions into the second quarter.

North Central never regained the lead, scoring just nine points in the second quarter and were outscored 20-3 in the third quarter, shooting just 1-of-11 from the field.

Allison Pearson was the lone Cardinal in double figures with 11 points, while Dimitrova and Rebekah Foley each finished with seven.  IxChel Leeuwenburgh led the team with six rebounds and a pair of steals.

Sammie Woodward led all scorers with 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field, while also leading the Lady Reds with seven assists and six rebounds.  Nansy Velev also finished in double figures, adding 10 points.

North Central returns home on Saturday, Feb. 8, hosting Elmhurst College with Senior Night festivities prior to tip-off at 5 p.m.  Links to live in-game coverage are available HERE.
