Mar. 12, 2020 (updated 4:38 p.m.) - The NCAA has announced the cancellation of all remaining winter and spring championships, effective immediately. This does pertain to this weekend's scheduled championship events in basketball, indoor track & field and wrestling in which North Central College teams were scheduled to compete.

A decision has not been made regarding the rest of North Central's spring sports schedule. Earlier on Mar. 12, the College announced its plan to move to a fully-online curriculum for the remainder of the academic year but leave the campus open.  The NCAA's statement is reproduced below in its entirety.

Today, NCAA President Mark Emmert and the Board of Governors canceled the Division I men's and women's 2020 basketball tournaments, as well as all remaining winter and spring NCAA championships. This decision is based on the evolving COVID-19 public health threat, our ability to ensure the events do not contribute to spread of the pandemic, and the impracticality of hosting such events at any time during this academic year given ongoing decisions by other entities.
