FORT MYERS, Fla. (Mar. 8th, 2020) - In the final day of the Gene Cusic Classic, the North Central College softball team added two more wins to their impressive 7-1 start as Samantha Gadomski delivered a walk-off single in the seventh inning to take down Nazareth 3-2, before the Cardinals defeated Alfred State 13-1 in five innings.

After three innings of scoreless baseball, the Golden Flyers broke the 0-0 tie as Kristen Simmons doubled to bring home Mackenzie Kapp to give Nazareth the early lead. They added to that lead in the top half of the sixth inning as with another rbi double.

The Cardinals responded in the bottom of the sixth inning as Jaime Smith recorded her second hit of the game, as she doubled down the left field line. Emily Miller would clutch up a two-out double to bring North Central within one.

Breanna Adams kept the Golden Flyers scoreless in the top half of the inning, despite having the bases loaded with only one-out. Andrea Richards would step up to the plate in the bottom half of the seventh inning as she reached on a Nazareth error and then moved over to second base on a wild pitch. Adams knocked her home with an rbi double to tie the game at 2-2.

Gadomski entered the game as a pinch hitter and delivered a walk-off single as Adams came around to score to win North Central's sixth game of the season. Smith and Adams each recorded two hits while Adams tallied four strikeouts and one earned run from the mound as she improves to 2-0 on the year.

Looking to win their sixth straight game, North Central began the second inning with a Gadomski single and Lisa Harrington reached on a hit by pitch. With runners on first and second, Kylie Ryza laid down a sacrifice bunt. An error on the Pioneer second baseman allowed Gadomski to score the first run of the game. Allison Lambert was hit by a pitch as Smith would hit into a fielder's choice, allowing Harrington to score. Lambert would later score on a wild pitch to increase the Cardinals lead to 3-0. Four more North Central hits pushed the lead to 7-0 at the end of the second inning.

Alfred State would record one run in the bottom of the second before North Central pushed their eighth run across the plate as Miller delivered an rbi single. The Cardinals would add five more runs in the final two innings to end their spring break trip at 7-1.

Gadomski improved to 2-1 on the year as she tallied eight strikeouts while only allowing three hits.

The Cardinals next game is on Sunday, Mar 15th as they play host to the Milwaukee School of Engineering. The contest will be played in Rosemont, Ill. at the Dome at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex.
