Mar. 9, 2020 -Â Combining a win over the number one ranked team in the nation and a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) win, the North Central College men's volleyball team has claimed their eighth-straight CCIW Athlete of the Week award, with senior
Michael Trunzo taking the honors for the second time this season.
The senior setter was instrumental in the Cardinal's win over then-no.1 ranked New York University on Mar. 3, recording 50 assists through the five-set contest. That puts him third on the single-match list for most assists in program history. On Saturday, Trunzo again led the Cardinals in assists, this time with 44 over four sets. He also added 11 digs to lead the team and had three block assists throughout the contest.
This is the second time on the season that Trunzo has been named the defensive player of the week for the conference, with his first coming back on Feb. 3.
The Cardinals (11-6, 4-1 CCIW) look to keep the solid momentum going this Wednesday as they take on Loras College on the road. Click
