Apr. 15, 2020 - The North Central College football team has placed a program-record individuals in the 2020 induction class for the National Football Foundation's (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society. The foundation released this year's honorees Wednesday.
The Hampshire Honor Society, part of the NFF's effort to recognize academic and athletic success, is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who have maintained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or better during their collegiate football careers. A total of 1,432 players from 364 schools qualified for membership in the society's 14th year.

Of this year's honorees, 684 (more than 47 percent of the total) came from 124 different NCAA Division III institutions. North Central's selections include linebackers
Bryan Beauchamp (management/marketing major),
Zach Butler (neuroscience) and
Griffin Paige (sociology), defensive backs
Darius Cook (computer science) and
Zach Greenberg (exercise science), defensive linemen
Alex Debolt (athletic training) and
Spenser Eversole (biology), tight end
Tyler Egan (accounting), offensive linemen
Jake Fiedler (sport management) and
Bobby Gannon (physics) and wide receivers
Axel Ponten (physics) and
Austin Zavis (accounting).
The Cardinals' inductee total is tied with Macalester College (Minnesota) for ninth-highest among Division III teams and 10th in all of college football.
North Central has had 79 players named to the Hampshire Honor Society since its inception in 2007. A total of 39 players from the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) were inducted this year.
The Cardinals concluded the 2019 campaign with an overall record of 14-1 and won the program's first
Division III national championship with a 41-14 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl in Shenandoah, Texas on Dec. 19. The 2020 season is scheduled to begin Saturday, Sept. 5, when North Central is set to host Christopher Newport University (Virginia) at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. Click
