Men’s Soccer Ranked in NCAA Regional Rankings

NCAA Region VIII Rankings 

Oct. 20, 2021 - In the first NCAA regional rankings of the 2021 season, the North Central College men's soccer team was ranked in the top eight in Region VIII, based on results through Oct. 17th. 

The Cardinals are now 14-1-1 overall and 4-1-1 in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) action. In their most recent contest, North Central fell to North Park in overtime 2-1 and currently sit in second place in the conference right behind North Park. 

This season, North Central has earned 14 wins this season which is one behind the most in program history. As a team, the Cardinals have scored 35 goals and only allowed six. The Cardinals lead the country for shutout percentage and are second in save percentage, goals against average. Sid Marquardt leads the country in shutouts with ten shutouts which puts him second most all-time for one season. 

North Park University, Wheaton College and Carthage College were other CCIW institutions that appeared in this week's rankings. University of Chicago, Hope College, Kalamazoo College and Washington University (Mo.) were also a part of this week's rankings. 

The Cardinals are back in action on Wednesday Oct. 27 as they host Wheaton College in a conference matchup. The match is set to start at 7:30 pm inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
