Oct. 30, 2021 - In their final contest of the regular season, the North Central College men's soccer team took down the Carroll University Pioneer's 1-0 on Senior Day inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.

The Cardinals offense didn't take long to get started as Dane Richardson finished off a long pass from defenseman Johnny Kraemer to put the Cardinals up 1-0 just 15 minutes into the game. In the 31st minute, the Cardinals had an opportunity to score as Jaziel Enriquez sent a strike to the top left corner which was punched away by Pioneer's goalkeeper Tyler Hanson.

In the second half, the Cardinals were looking to score to put the game out of reach and in the 51st minute Herman Hesby had an opportunity. Hesby broke away from the defense and put his shot in the low left corner which was blocked away by Hanson.

The Cardinal defense was dominant once again earning their 13th shutout of the season. The defense only allowed six shots on goal which were all handled by goalkeeper Sid Marquardt. Marquardt earned his 11th shutout of the season which currently leads the country and puts him in second for most shutouts in a single season in program history.

The Cardinals (16-1-1, 6-1-1 CCIW) will host the Illinois Wesleyan University Titans on Wednesday in the semifinals of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) tournament. The game time is TBD, for more information click HERE
