2021 CCIW All-Conference Men's Soccer Teams
Nov. 2, 2021 - The North Central College men's soccer team tied a program record for players selected to the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) All Conference team and head coach
Enzo Fuschino was named Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season with
Dane Richardson being named newcomer of the year.
After taking over the men's soccer program prior to the 2019 season, Fuschino has earned his second Coach of the Year award and is the fourth coach in history to win two consecutive Coach of the Year awards. Fuschino has posted a 27-6-4 record as the head coach of the Cardinals and has two consecutive CCIW tournament appearances.
After being named player of the week this week, Sid Marquardt earned First Team honors for his efforts this season in net. Marquardt leads the country and CCIW in shutouts this season with 11. He has posted a 12-1-1 record with a 0.36 goals against average and a 0.899 save percentage. Also earning First Team honors are Johnny Kraemer and Richardson. Jaziel Enriquez and Aidan Westerberg were named All-CCIW Second Team. Enriquez has tallied five goals and two assists this season in 18 games and Westerberg has tallied four goals and is tied for second in assists on the team.
Richardson was named CCIW Newcomer of the year for the first time in program history for his performance on the field this season. Richardson currently leads the team with seven goals, five assists and 19 points. Richardson has played in 18 games and has started 16 of those games, he has tallied 977 minutes this season and has 42 shots with 19 of them on goal. Richardson has also scored three game winning goals, his most recent coming in the 1-0 victory over Carroll University.
Davis Nelson, a Freshman from Madison Wis. earned the RESPECT Award for North Central this year. RESPECT Award recipients distinguish themselves as an integral member of the team, their institution, and community by upholding the values of Responsibility, Enthusiasm, Service, Pride, Excellence, Collaboration, and Trust. The RESPECT Award recognizes the intangible traits a student-athlete possesses that exemplify great character and encourages inclusiveness and a positive culture
The Cardinals (16-1-1, 6-1-1 CCIW) are back in action Wednesday night as they host the Illinois Wesleyan University Titans in the semifinals of the CCIW tournament. The match is set to kickoff at 7:30 pm inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
