Kraemer earns Scholar All-American honors

2021 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Men's Scholar All-America Team

Dec. 16, 2021 - After receiving First Team Scholar All-Region honors in the North/Central region yesterday, North Central College men's soccer player, Johnny Kraemer was honored by the United Soccer Coaches as a First Team Scholar All-American. 

Kraemer is the first player in program history to earn First Team honors and the second Cardinal to earn Scholar All-American honors as Jon Borzick earned third team honors in 2017. 

Kraemer, a Finance major from Oswego, Ill, posted a 3.44 GPA while starting all 21 games for the Cardinals this season. Kraemer was a perfect five for five on penalty kicks this season while tallying a total of six goals, one assist and 13 points. Kraemer led the Cardinal defense that only allowed ten goals while tallying a single season record of 14 shutouts.

Other College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) players named on the Scholar All-America team were Gustav Ericsson and Peder Olsen of North Park University who both earned Second Team honors. 

North Central finished the season with a 18-2-1 (6-1-1 CCIW) record earning themselves the No. 2 seed in the CCIW tournament where they won their first ever CCIW Championship sending them to their first NCAA Tournament. The Cardinals ended the year ranked 14th in the D3 Soccer National Rankings and 5th in the United Soccer Coaches Region VIII Rankings.
