CCIW Release

Feb. 15, 2021 - Junior Matt Nealon of the North Central College men's volleyball team secured his second-straight College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Defensive Player of the Week award, by posting career numbers in the Cardinals win over the Milwaukee School of Engineering on Tuesday.

Nealon tallied 43 assists on Tuesday to place himself third in program history for most assists in a four-set match. On top of that, he recorded eight digs, four service aces, and four blocks with only one setting error. All of those are career-highs, except for aces as he had five earlier this season against Aurora University.  

As a team, North Central totaled 52 kills, 47 assists, 40 digs, and five service aces to beat the Raiders on Tuesday evening in Gregory Arena. Nealon is the seventh Cardinal to earn CCIW Player of the Week honors, and third to earn multiple awards. 

On Wednesday, the Cardinals visit Illinois Wesleyan University (0-3) who is in their first-ever season of men's volleyball. Game time is set for 7:00 PM in the Shirk Center. Live video and stats are available HERE.
