BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (Feb. 17, 2021) - Competing in their first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) contest of the season, the North Central College men's volleyball team (3-0; 1-0 CCIW) defeated Illinois Wesleyan University in four sets.
It was back-and-forth early, but the Cardinals used a 14-1 run to secure the first set with ease, 25-11. North Central continued where they left off in the second set as
Ben Williams posted two of his six service aces, which ties a program record for most in a single-match. To close out the set,
Jake Miller sent home one of his 14 kills as the Cardinals won 25-18.Â
Winning their only set of the match, the Titans scored four of the final five set points to take the third set 25-22. Looking to stay unbeaten, North Central put their foot on the gas and dominated the fourth set 25-12.
In addition to tying a program record for service aces, Williams made his name appear in the record book once more as he ties 4th-place for most kills in a four-set match with 16.
Matt Nealon tallied 41 assists, nine digs, five kills and an ace. As a team, the Cardinals posted a hitting percentage of .360.
Illinois Wesleyan was led by Michael Eastman who recorded 12 kills and two digs. In total, the Titans had 22 kills and hit .077 with 20 assists.
North Central hosts No. 9 Carthage College (4-0; 1-0 CCIW) on Wednesday evening in Gregory Arena. The match is set to begin at 7:00 PM and you can view live video and stats
