NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Feb. 27, 2021) - Dominating from the opening serve, the North Central College men's volleyball team took down Millikin University in just three sets to earn their fourth win of the season.
The Cardinals came out swinging as they jumped out to an 8-1 lead over the Big Blue.
Kevin Braceros later recorded three consecutive service aces to propel North Central to a first set victory, 25-12. In total, the Cardinals tallied seven service aces in the set.
In the second set,
Ben Williams added to his already seven kills as he put the Cardinals up 18-9. North Central would close out the set on a block from
Jake Miller and Cardenas, to win 25-13. Looking to sweep the Big Blue, North Central used aces from
Luke Schmidt,
Matt Nealon, and
Ben Pluskota to cruise to a 3-0 match win as they took the third set 25-12.
As a team, North Central posted 15 aces, 34 kills, and 32 assists, 30 of which came from Nealon. Williams totaled nine kills and an ace in his two sets played.
For Millikin, Cristobal Gonzalez led the Big Blue with 12 assists while Kyle Clendenen racked up five kills.
