Cardenas Tabbed as CCIW Defensive Player of the Week

Mar. 15, 2021 - Earning the Cardinals' third College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Player of the Week honor this season, sophomore Jeremy Cardenas of the North Central College men's volleyball team takes home his second career defensive award for his performance this past week.

On Wednesday, Cardenas totaled 10 kills on 15 attempts before racking up seven block assists on Saturday against Illinois Wesleyan. On the week, he recorded 14 kills, 11 block assists, one solo block, and averaged a .667 hitting percentage over the two Cardinal victories. 

Cardenas joins Matt Nealon as the two Cardinals that have won CCIW Player of the Week awards this season. Nealon won defensive player of the week twice in the first two weeks of the season and became the seventh to be named a conference player of the week recipient in program history.
