April 14, 2021 - Nearly shutting out their opponent, the North Central men's lacrosse team cruised past Carroll University with a 23-1 win for their second College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) win of the season.
The Cardinals dominated from start to finish winning 24-27 faceoffs and putting up 90 shots compared to the Pioneers 17. The men's lacrosse team also, went nearly perfect clearing the ball going 22-24.
Luke Illgen got the Cardinals rolling in the first quarter receiving a pass from
Riley Bachinski to make the score 1-0. Bachinski would assist Illgen on another goal in the first quarter making it 3-0 with 6:17 left on the clock. Illgen would score again, this time 10 seconds into the start of the second quarter. That goal caught the Cardinals on fire as they scored 10 goals in the quarter and headed into halftime with a score of 15-0.
The Cardinals came out of half picking up where they left off, but this time
Jacob Wilson scoring a goal with 8:51 left in the third quarter. It wouldn't be until 13:16 left in the fourth quarter when Carroll's Josh Kovach scored their one and only goal on the night.
Bachinski would have nine ground balls on the night, while teammate
Steven Faux had eight.
Scott Allgood tallied one goal and five assist and his brother
Jake Allgood picked up the win in goal to improve to 8-1 on the season.
The Cardinals 8-1 (2-1) return to action Saturday afternoon as they host Carthage College.
