 - Making its return to competition after more than a month on the sidelines, the North Central College women's lacrosse team hosted Carroll University Wednesday at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. The visitors made use of a fast start to defeat the Cardinals, 18-6.

North Central (1-3, 0-1 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin) fell behind by a 6-0 count after the first 10 minutes of play before Annabelle Steiner broke the ice with the hosts' first goal with 17:39 on the first-half clock. The Pioneers owned a 12-2 advantage before North Central tallied a pair of goals to close the half. Grace Steiner converted a free position attempt before Simona Hudakova caused a turnover deep in Carroll territory and fed Reese McMullen for a score with just 14.5 seconds to play before halftime.

Berit Vandenbroucke scored on a free position shot and Julia Clarke drove down the middle for a goal to account for North Central's second-half scoring. Grace Steiner caused four turnovers in the game while goalkeeper Abigail Widd saved 15 shots on goal.

The Pioneers (9-2, 3-1 CCIW) were led in scoring by Michaela Johnson, Clara Jelacic and Katrina Hardin, each of whom scored five goals. Johnson added a game-high six assists as well.
