CHICAGO, Ill. (Apr. 3, 2021) –
The North Central College women's tennis team fell 9-0 in a pair of matches at the hands of the University of Chicago on Saturday at Stagg Tennis Courts in the final non-conference matches of the season.

North Central (6-4) fell in an early 3-0 hole after doubles play in match one, as Katie McGraw and Linsy Jante hung with Ivvy Hicks and Annika Pandey at the No. 3 position, but ultimately fell 8-4.

Chicago (2-0) carried that momentum into singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets.  Hannah Hougland had a 4-3 lead in the middle of set number two against Eugenia Lee at the No. 1 position, but could not hang on in the end, falling 1-6, 4-6.

In the nightcap, Mikayla Edquiban and Nina Patience fought hard against Claudia Ng and Perene Wang at No. 1 doubles, but fell late 8-5, while the Maroons again claimed all three doubles positions.

In singles play, Sjana Henderson nearly pulled off the first-set upset over Hicks at the No. 4 spot, but ended up on the wrong side of a 7-5, 6-1 final.  Like the opener, Chicago claimed won all six singles positions in straight sets.

Returning to College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) action on Friday, Apr. 9, North Central hosts Wheaton College on Senior Day with matches scheduled for 4 p.m. at Nike Park.
