Apr. 8th, 2021 - Three members of the North Central College men's volleyball team were named to the All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) teams as
Jared Moser earned first-team honors for the second straight season while
Jeremy Cardenas and
Samuel Kharasch received their first selections to the second team.
Moser, a sophomore from Wheeling, now owns back-to-back first-team all-conference selections. He ranked third in the CCIW in points per set (3.72), fourth in kills per set (3.19), and ninth in hitting percentage (.270), despite missing the last two games with a hand injury. He currently ranks second in attacking percentage (.279), sixth in career kills (318), and eighth in career service aces (29) in program history.
The libero for the Cardinals, Kharash was named to the second team as he finished the year in third place for digs per set in the CCIW with 2.47. He concluded the season with 100 digs, extending his program record for most digs in a career at 615.
Cardenas tallied a .366 hitting percentage and averaged .86 blocks per set, ranking him fifth in the conference for both categories. The sophomore also placed 10th in the CCIW for service aces per set with 0.27. He was named CCIW Defensive Player of the Week on Mar. 15th as he helped lead the Cardinals to victories over Loras and Illinois Wesleyan.
Carthage swept the individual honors as Matt Slivinksi won Offensive Player of the Year for the second straight season while Zach Bulthuis (Defensive Player of the Year), Gene McNulty (Newcomer of the Year), and JW Kieckhefer (Coach of the Year) earned the other individual accolades.
On the season, North Central finished the year at 11-4 and 8-4 in CCIW play, earning them a share of second place. In the Week 7 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) DIII Poll, the Cardinals came in at No. 13, and No. 5 in the NCAA Region Rankings.
