DECATUR, Ill. (May 6th, 2021) - Playing in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Tournament, the North Central College softball team used a pair of multi-run home runs, along with a complete-game shutout from Breanna Adams to advance to the next round of the conference tournament by beating Carroll 6-0.

Forcing the 2021 CCIW Pitcher of the Year, Amanda Osterhus out of the game early in the first inning, as Katie Del Re, Jaime Smith, and Emily Miller all walked to open the contest.

Talia Torosian stepped up to the plate with the bases loaded and crushed a grand slam over the right-center fence as the Cardinals took a 4-0 lead in the top half of the first inning.

After a scoreless second frame, North Central kept the momentum going as Miller singled through the left side. Adams followed that up with her first home run of the season to give the Cardinals a 6-0 advantage after three innings of play.

The Pioneers threatened in the fifth inning with back-to-back leadoff singles, but Adams and the Cardinals defense worked out of the trouble as Torosian turned a double play before Carroll grounded out to Del Re to end the inning.

From there on out, the Pioneers did not record a hit as North Central won 6-0 behind Adams who secured her third complete-game shutout of the season. The Cardinals will face the winner of Millikin and Elmhurst back at Workman Family Field on Saturday at 2:30 PM. You can find live video and stats links to that game HERE.
