ITA All-Academic Teams
ITA Scholar Athletes
July 15, 2021 – For the fourth consecutive season, the North Central College women's tennis team earned the All-Academic Team award from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), while a program record 11 individuals were also named Scholar Athletes.
To qualify for the ITA All-Academic Team award, a program must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or above, as all varsity letter winners are factored into the cumulative team GPA. A total of 141 NCAA Division III women's teams qualified for the distinction, and North Central is one of five College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) representatives along with Carthage College, Illinois Wesleyan University, Millikin University and Wheaton College. This marks the sixth time in program history that the team has qualified for the award (2009, 2011, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021).
To qualify for ITA Scholar Athlete recognition, student-athletes must earn a varsity letter, have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 and have been enrolled at their present institution for at least two semesters.
Morgan House,
Katie Legorreta and
Tiffany Smolik become the program's first four-time recipients of the Scholar Athlete award, while
Katie McGraw earns the distinction for the third time. Second-time honorees include
Laura Fox and
Sydney Sawyer, while
Sjana Henderson,
Hannah Hougland,
Rena Kawakami,
Hannah Kopek and
Nina Patience are all first-time award winners.
The Cardinals open the 2021-2022 season on Saturday, Aug. 28, hosting the North Central Invitational at 8 a.m. with location to be announced.
